alternatives womens center - Sewing Project - "Baby Bundle"

alternatives womens center
is looking for individuals who can sew small bags for us! We’re excited about this project, because it’s going to allow us to equip individuals with a fetal model of a 12 week old preborn baby, along with an informative card with talking points.  One side of the card addresses what to say to someone thinking about abortion.  The other side addresses what to say to someone who has had an abortion.  We are making these available to churches.

The project involves sewing 3 straight lines on a sewing machine and stringing a ribbon in the pocket at the top.  We’ll have a sample of the finished product, as well as explicit directions and material already cut out.  We have put these in packages of 25 each.  Feel free to ask for more than one package.

If there are any groups or individuals who like to sew, we’d be very grateful for their services.  Please call alternatives womens center directly at  (760) 741-9796.

We began this project as a tool people can use as a means of ministering to those who are thinking about an abortion, and/or those who have had an abortion.

In each bag is a model of a 12-week fetus, a card outlining the development of the baby over 12 weeks, and a card with talking points, on one side addressing those contemplating abortion, and on the other, addressing those who have had an abortion.

One woman received one of these babies at a meeting.  A few days later her adult son came in, telling her that his best friend’s girlfriend was pregnant, and she was going to abort.  The woman begged him for the opportunity to speak to his friend.  Her son didn’t think it was a good idea, but he took the model of the baby.  As a result of that, his friend and the girlfriend came into alternatives, spoke with an advisor, had an ultrasound, and decided to carry the baby!

The teenage son of one of our employees used his cell phone to take a picture of that 12-week fetus in his hand.  He then went around campus showing this baby to his friends!  It started a lot of conversations.

Another woman who received the baby sent it to her nephew in another state when she heard his girlfriend was pregnant and planning to abort.  He showed it to his girlfriend, and she changed her mind.  She recently gave birth!
